Aerocar2 Dave's $5 Challenge
Although ChewBaru driver, Paul won the $5 Challenge in McCook, Dave definitely deserves an honorable mention.
He came in and told us that he had been suffering from an affliction during most of the trip. It seemed that everytime he got into the truck that he would have a severe bout of coughing. Even in his weakened condition, he had stopped at the Pharmacy to look for something for the challenge.
Unfortunately, he was not able to finish the story because he was, at that very moment, overcome by one of his coughing spells. Always polite, he went outside so he wouldn't disturb us. Everyone was very worried and concerned but felt helpless to assist him. After what seemed like 15 minutes of listening to one deep cough after another he finally returned. He looked weak but declared that he felt better. It seemed it had taken a lot out of him but he said he finally got it loose and he felt better. Seeing the concern on everyone's face he held out his hands to show us the result. In his hands was the "fruit of his efforts" . . . . . . . a nasty Musinex stuffed critter.
With everyone feeling "had" he explained that he found it in the Pharmacy and the employees were happy to sell it to him for his $5 challenge item so they wouldn't have to look at it any more.
Editor's Note: I took Dave aside and let him know that we expected his kind, gentle nature to rub off on us and I was surprised that he could be such a convincing liar. We realized that the rest of us were inclined to be pranksters but thought he would be a positive influence for us.
His reply? "You've got me outnumbered! I haven't got a chance!"
'Nuff said.
