Day 1 2006 Rt 6 NE Art Car Tour - Big Rigs to Big Pile

Saturday started the best way possible with friends gathering and ChewBaru Rex on KZUM Community radio in Lincoln. Unfortunately, Rex had to depart the state so he recruited Paul to drive ChewBaru and Rex headed back to Kansas. [HI, REX!!!]

This year we kicked off the tour at Shoemaker's Truck Stop. The challenge of the day was to count the number of fuel pumps at Shoemaker's. The only problem was that none of us knew the correct answer but we still announced Erika the winner of the daily challenge. She received the traveling Rt 6 NE award - a fine and fancy hub cap that she had to add to and hand over to the next day's winner on Sunday.

Milford Fun Days was an understatement because it wasn't just fun, it was a hoot! "OH, MY GOD, THAT CAR IS SICK," was heard from those getting close to ChewBaru. But those were teenagers so we think it was a compliment. Don, Route 6 Cruiser, found out that the people in Milford really do have a sense of humor. Anyone who has ever seen the car will understand why we say that because there is a very eye catching symbol for Milford. Great people, great food, and a great celebration, all courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce and the event co-chairs, Rachel and Shelly. We also salute the Chamber president and everyone who sponsored the event. We hope to add a stop there again for lunch on Tuesday so if you missed us go to the Pizza Kitchen and see us. We'd be glad to have you pull up a chair and give the Pizza Kitchen your support. Winners in their Art Car Contest (as voted on by the public) were Dave's Aero Car 2, Anne's Swap & Shop car, and Don's Rt. 6 Cruiser.
